The Punisher: War Zone

Before going to see the Punisher: War Zone I had no idea what to expect. I hadn't seen the previous movies, and had no idea what I was getting myself in to. I looked up a trailer and was not too excited to see it. I had heard from other people that it was not the same actor from eh first movie, and that immediately made me realize it wouldn't be that good of a movie.
My thought after the movie was that the movie was all right. I wasn't blown away but I wasn't too disappointed. I wasn't expecting much, and couldn't compare to the past movies. I was aware that the people who did the "Saw" movies (Lionsgate) were used, so I was expecting gore and blood. People seemed to think it was too much. I personally was expecting more disturbing images, but that doesn't change the fact that it was too much. They were drawing the line and were showing images that were very much unnecessary. Although, it didn't bother me, I think it was too much and could have easily been taken out of the movie.
My biggest anger towards the film was the dialogue. At times the lines seemed like a joke and they were being terrible on purpose. The lines were lame and my grandma could have written them better. Sometimes I just needed to laugh and ask myself if it was a serious line or not. But, the moment the movie started I wasn't enjoying the accents. They just sounded fake, maybe they were real and I'm crazy but they seemed too forced. They seemed to overdue the gore and the accents, but did too little good dialogue.
I enjoyed the fact that they had a lot of comic relief. There were a lot of heavy points in the film and a lot of deaths, but there were a lot of funny lines throughout the film. Sometimes, they weren't meant to be funny and I laughed, but sometimes they were meant for a laugh. Sometimes the killings were even funny in a sick and twisted way. The comic relief was probably my favorite part of the movie.
Overall the movie was ok. I can’t say it was good, but can’t say it was terrible. I wouldn't see it in theaters, but you can rent it. But, if you were a huge fan of the past movie or a fan of the comic, I would see it. But if it were just because you want to see a movie for no reason, I would choose something else.

The Grammar of Thanksgiving

Clapp's view on the grammar of Thanksgiving was written with a historical and religious perspective. I was confused at the beginning of the essay. It seemed like he was trying to stretch a "metaphorical" like example of grammar and other things to make sense and prove a point. It began to make sense the more in depth into the essay it got, but it was still a little confusing, but then again that might just be me. I liked how he gave examples as to what he meant by the grammar of Thanksgiving, it made it make more sense the more examples given. In his first paragraph he clearly states that he will be writing with a Christian perspective, then continues with this throughout the essay. He gives a simple explanation of Thanksgiving, which is helpful for someone who doesn't know, or can't remember, why Thanksgiving is celebrated. I agreed with a few of the things he wrote. The brief statistics of how little our country gives to others was depressing. I like the comparison he used with Thanksgiving and the story of Exodus. I think he made a good point that Thanksgiving is a time of giving thanks and we should above all thank God. I overall liked his view of the grammar of Thanksgiving.

Intro

Hiding identity is not just common in super hero films and comics, but in real life as well. People hide their identities fro many different reasons. People hide their identities for protection in films from the bad guy, but their are also those who have to hide in real life for their own safety. It's also for the protection of family and friends to keep your identity hidden. Celebrities hide their identity out in public, so they can live their lives in peace, and keep their children out of the spotlight. People hide their identities for hiding their differences, good or bad, because of their fear of being different. People can wear a mask, metaphorical or physically because they feel they have to hide their true identity to feel "normal" in this world. The film The Incredibles does a good job at portraying what its like to hide your identity, not only as a super hero, but in real life too.

Social Issue

Abortion
When does life begin?
Who's choice is it really?
it's a debatable question
but I see the answer clearly

People assume my answer to this topic
But they don't even listen
I must be pro-life
Because I'm a Christian

I am pro choice
I think it's a decision to make
Why should people ruin another person's life
By one stupid mistake

I understand pro life
It makes sense to me
But if i was raped at 17
I wouldnt want baby

I don't think killings right
Especially an innocent child
but, a teenager raising a baby
Is almost as bad as it being raised in the wild

I dont think one opinion
is better than the other
But, wouldn't you want a kid
When you were actually ready to be a mother

When you are going to have a baby
You should be glad
Be prepared and ready
Be the perfect mom and dad!

Individualism

People have different views of what individualism is. I believe individualism is not caring what anyone thinks about you and you live for yourself. Individualism is when you know you are a unique person and know no one is like you. When you have so much confidence in yourself that you truly don't care what anyone thinks. In the movie Spiderman 2 it is obvious that individualism is a strong theme of the movie. Spiderman is a rare type of person, after all he is a super hero. The main villain of the movie is a doctor who's experiment goes wrong and kills his wife. He has mechanical tentacles which he later uses for evil to try and take over the city. This is an example of individualism in the way that no one has mechanical tentacles and he truly doesn't care what anyone thinks of him. e is who he is and doesn't care what people think. The overall character of Spiderman is a unique individual. He is his own person in the way that he works many jobs, is kinda a geek and socially awkward, and is a superhero. He hides his true identity from the world, and is one of the most unique person in the world. Individualism is all around us, and we are all unique.
